Development of high-resolution marine seismic data acquisition and processing system
High-resolution seismic surveys utilize the advanced oil exploration technology, scaled down to a high-resolution environment . They increase horizontal resolution by making the shot interval dense. Furthermore, a dense sample interval (0.1–0.5 msec) enhances vertical resolution, and GPS is used to measure the vessel's position.

The survey equipment consists of the source unit that generates the sound source, the receiver unit that receives the data and the recording unit that records the seismic data. The source unit includes sound sources such as air guns, sparkers, or boomers and sound source control system. Receiver unit consists of streamer cable and power supply. The recording unit is a PC-based digital data acquisition and processing system SeisDaps, analog filter and thermal recording equipment.

The SeisDaps system, the core equipment of the recording unit, consists of hardware consisting of a PC and a signal converter (a signal input conversion device with a built-in A/D converter) and the SeisDaps software that controls it. The SeisDaps software inputs data acquisition parameters such as data sample interval, recording time, gain control, output file name, and data format, and records the data in SEGY format. It displays signals and frequency spectrum in real time for quality control (QC) of the exploration data. This allows for signal status checks during data recording, and the display section can be easily enlarged or reduced for easy signal identification. When changing the survey line, data recording can be performed by simply changing the file name, and the set data acquisition parameters are automatically saved, allowing for easy system operation.
